Maddy has been found, but sadly has passed away.

We found Maddy tonight under a neighbors car.  She was in very bad condition.  We rushed her to PVSEC, but unfortunately she passed away.

She had no visible injuries, x-ray was normal.  Her blood work showed that she likely ingested something toxic.

We are in shock and devastated.  This is not the ending we expected.

Thank you to everyone that kept watch for Maddy, shared her posts, and allowed us to put flyers up in your businesses.

I wish this was a much different update.

Maddy has been sighted!!

Today I trapped a cat that has been hanging around Valleyview Drive.  We were called to this area for a possible Maddy sighting, but it turned out to be this tabby cat.  This cat will be going to Animal Friends tomorrow to get spayed.  I already have posts up looking for the possible owner.

On the way home, I saw a cat under my neighbors truck.  The cat looked similar to Maddy, but after I parked I grabbed my flashlight to check it out.

It is Maddy!!!!  Unfortunately, she freaked out and ran from me when I called her name.

We set a trap and waited.  She was around the trap a couple of times, but did not go in.  Raccoons started coming out so we closed the trap up for the night.  We put food and water on the porch and the trail camera is set up.

We will try to trap again tomorrow when we get home from work.

It’s so good to know that she is alive.  I was starting to lose hope.  Now we just have to get her back inside where she belongs.

Many possible sightings

We have gone out on many calls. There were several reports around Maplewood. We had calls from the areas around Beaver and 6th and 8th Streets. We have driven all over Ambridge, especially focusing on areas that have a larger stray cat population in case Maddy has joined a colony of cats. There are several cats around that look similar to Maddy, but so far no actual sightings of Maddy.

We are now getting some calls from Valleyview and Fairfield areas. We have a trail camera set up at one location, but so far have only seen a squirrel.

Please keep the calls coming. While many calls have not been Maddy, she could show up anywhere. We are going on nearly 6 weeks missing and I have hope that one of these calls will be Maddy. I’d rather go out and find it’s not Maddy, than not receive a call and it is her.

Possible Sighting

We discovered that this cat was also a missing cat since late June. I trapped the cat and she has been reunited with her owners.

We were alerted to a possible sighting on Grandview Avenue in Harmony Township, so we placed some food and water and monitored the area with a trail camera. Unfortunately, it did not appear to be Maddy. We were alerted by multiple people in the area and are not sure at this time if they were all reporting this same cat. We will follow up with them to confirm this is the cat they saw.

Where’s Maddy?

Lost from Hazel Ave., Ambridge, PA on Friday, July 26, 2019.

While letting the dogs in on 7/26/2019 Maddy ran out into the woods behind our house. Initially she stayed on the hillside in the woods behind our house, but would not come down and would run if we tried to go to her. She stayed behind the house late into the night.  We left food/water and put up our trail camera.  By the next morning, she was gone.

We have done all of the things suggested to get your cat home. The raccoons have been an issue when we put food out and we have no signs of her on our trail camera.

We initially put flyers up around our neighborhood, but due to an ordinance, we had to take them down.

At this time, we do have flyers up at several businesses throughout town, and we have sent flyers to all of the shelters in the area and many vet offices including PVSEC and Rainbow. Maddy has also been posted in our local lost and found groups on Facebook, a couple of Facebook news groups, on Nextdoor, Pawboost, and PetHarbor.

We have driven all over and handed flyers to people we spoke with while out looking. We have also done some door to door with no results. We did have a couple of sightings from one area, but when we followed up, it turned out to be a different cat.

We need help to continue to get the word out. We need sightings to know where to look for her.

It is possible someone may have taken her in. It’s possible that she joined a colony of stray or feral cats in the area. We really have nothing to go on. For us, it feels like she has vanished. If something happened to her, we need to know so we can have closure.

We trapped Maddy in 2017 after she was left behind when her owner moved. She was living in the house with her kittens, which were sadly deceased from flea infestation. From what we were told, Maddy was an indoor/outdoor cat with that previous owner, but she has been indoor only since we brought her into our home. We are hoping her survival instincts have kicked in and she is finding food, water, and shelter.

Maddy is very sweet, but may be scared and acting skittish right now. If you see her, do not chase her or try to pick her up. She does not like to be picked up. Just call us immediately.

She is a dilute tortie with more light gray coloring, indoor only cat. Her colors can vary depending on the lighting. Sometimes she looks darker, sometimes she has a more silver appearance to her.

Maddy is 8 years old, spayed and current on her vaccines. She is also microchipped.
